How Much Does a Private China Tour Cost?

There is no single private China tour price. Dates, hotel rooms, transport and the amount of guiding determine the total. Start with a whole-party quotation, then divide by travellers and days. Below, a hypothetical RMB 28,000 seven-day plan for four works out at RMB 1,000 per person per day; it is an arithmetic example, not a market rate or a China Storyline offer.

A search for China tour prices can produce numbers that look comparable but cover very different holidays. One may include hotels and intercity transport; another may be a day tour with neither. This guide helps families and friends ask for the same things in each proposal, so the final decision reflects the trip you actually want.

First, define what your private tour includes

Private should describe who shares the arranged service, not imply that everything is included. A private car with a driver is different from a private guided itinerary with hotels, tickets and rail connections. Ask which days are guided, which journeys have their own vehicle and where you will travel independently.

Count the nights separately from the days. A seven-day journey commonly needs six nights, but a late flight or overnight connection can change that. For a family, two rooms, a suite and a room with extra beds are different products. Confirm actual occupancy and bedding before comparing hotel costs.

A seven-day family cost example, not a quotation

The following numbers are invented solely to demonstrate a budget calculation for two adults and two children. They are not researched average prices, available supplier rates or a price at which you can book with us. Replace every row with a written quotation for your dates and requirements.

Assume four travellers, seven calendar days, six nights in two rooms and five days of combined private vehicle and guiding. The example does not apply a child discount: real eligibility depends on each hotel, ticket and transport supplier.

What does that mean per person?

RMB 28,000 divided by four is RMB 7,000 per traveller for the trip. Divide again by seven calendar days and the result is RMB 1,000 per person per day. This is a blended budgeting figure, not a daily tour tariff: arrival days, hotel nights and guided sightseeing days do not have the same costs.

International flights, visas where required, travel insurance, personal purchases and any transport between cities are outside this example. Bank charges and exchange-rate movements can also affect the amount paid in your home currency. Do not mistake the demonstration total for an all-in holiday price.

Six decisions that change a real quotation

Our recommendation is to settle the route and room requirements before asking for a tighter price. Changing those two items late in the process can require almost everything else to be recalculated. Share the children’s general age ranges without sending identity documents at the enquiry stage.

  • Dates: request prices for your actual nights, especially around holidays, rather than reusing a low-season example.
  • Rooms: ask for named hotels, room types, breakfast, extra-bed arrangements and cancellation terms.
  • Party size: shared services may spread across more people, but a larger party may also require a different vehicle.
  • Route: another city means another transfer, and possibly another ticket, hotel move or guide arrangement.
  • Support: distinguish a driver, an accompanying guide and separately requested interpreting services.
  • Experiences: specify the exact attraction, route and internal transport rather than just “mountain visit”.

Compare two offers without overlooking exclusions

Put each quote into three columns: included, excluded and not yet confirmed. A blank space is a question, not a free inclusion. Check taxes and service charges, overtime, airport waiting time, luggage capacity, admission tickets and any required child restraints.

Then compare the conditions. What is reserved after the deposit? When is the balance due? Which suppliers can impose cancellation charges? Ask how weather changes and missed transport are handled. A lower total is not necessarily poor value, and a higher total is not automatically better service; the agreed details matter.

Keep the trip personal without adding unnecessary services

Choose fewer hotel changes, group nearby visits together and identify the days when local support would make the biggest difference. You might prefer a guide for a complex mountain outing and a free afternoon near your hotel. Ask for the difference between those versions instead of removing essential services at random.

Send China Storyline your approximate dates, party size, room needs and the experiences you most want. We can discuss a private route and the services to quote. You do not need to enter a budget in our enquiry form. The next useful step is a written, itemised proposal, not a generic price promise.

Common questions

Are children always half price on a private China tour?

No. Hotel occupancy, ticket eligibility and transport rules differ. Ask for a quotation showing the actual arrangements for your children rather than assuming a blanket discount.

Is the RMB 28,000 example a China Storyline package?

No. It is a hypothetical calculation showing how to read a trip budget. No services, dates or rates are offered at that amount. Request a written proposal for an actual price.
