Victoria Harbour & the Star Ferry
See the skyline from the water, then walk a waterfront promenade. The change from shore to ferry offers two very different ways to read the harbour.

HARBOUR CITY
A ferry ride, a tram window, an island afternoon: Hong Kong has many ways to spend time together. Make room for the experiences your family or friends are excited about, with a pace that leaves space for meals, breaks and discoveries along the way.
Hong Kong and mainland China have separate entry arrangements. If combining Hong Kong with Shenzhen or another mainland stop, check permission for each entry before booking. Tell us about walking needs, children’s breaks and island or theme-park preferences.

HISTORY & CULTURE
A few starting points for understanding the places you visit, rather than a complete history.
19th century
Tai Kwun preserves buildings associated with policing, courts and imprisonment under British administration. Its Barrack Block dates to 1864, giving the area a visible historical anchor.
1904
Hong Kong's tram service began in 1904. Riding it today connects a present-day journey with more than a century of street-level transport history.
1997
On 1 July 1997, Hong Kong returned to Chinese sovereignty and became a Special Administrative Region, ending British administration. The harbour remains a useful setting for reflecting on this historical transition.
