HUNAN · MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPES
Some landscapes make everyone stop talking for a moment. Zhangjiajie is one of them. Share the sandstone peaks of the national forest park, then choose a stream walk, a lake visit or a mountain adventure around your family or friends. We plan the walking, transfers and rest stops with you.
Tell us about walking comfort, steps and heights before choosing a route. Park shuttles and cable cars do not make every path step-free. Wulingyuan, Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon need separate planning; weather and ticket arrangements can affect access.

Wide mountain views
A different perspective on the Wulingyuan peaks, with room to pause and photograph. Ask about lift and shuttle options, while allowing for steps at viewpoints.

A forest-side walk
See the landscape from the valley rather than the heights. Discuss a shorter section suited to your party instead of committing everyone to the full walk.

Mountain adventure
Plan a separate mountain outing around its dramatic scenery. Ticket routes, cable-car operation, steps and weather all need checking; glass walkways are optional, not essential.

For those who enjoy heights
A glass-deck bridge above the canyon for travellers comfortable with heights. Discuss an alternative for anyone who would rather skip it. Tickets, conditions and participation rules need confirmation.

Water & mountain scenery
Consider a lake outing for a different rhythm between mountain days. Boat availability, boarding access and the walking approach should be discussed before booking.

Another viewpoint area within the forest park. Compare it with Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain rather than trying to cover every mountain area in one day.

An underground landscape
Explore a cave landscape as a contrast to the peaks above. Confirm the chosen route, steps, boat operation and comfort with enclosed spaces before adding it.

IDEAS FOR YOUR JOURNEY

Nature & outdoors
Give the national forest park time. Choose viewpoints around everyone’s energy and leave space for weather changes, photographs and breaks.

Discuss a manageable Golden Whip Stream walk and a relaxed meal afterwards. Shorter does not always mean step-free: we will check the actual route with you.

HISTORY & CULTURE
A few starting points for understanding the places you visit, rather than a complete history.
A landscape shaped over time
Wulingyuan is known for quartz sandstone pillars, ravines and streams. Its forms offer a way to explore natural history together, beyond collecting viewpoint photographs.
1992
Wulingyuan was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992 for its exceptional scenery. Its heritage story is also about caring for the landscape while visiting.
A journey with more than one rhythm
Forest walks, lake scenery and caves show different sides of the area. Choose a few experiences thoughtfully instead of treating every attraction as a compulsory stop.

No passport number, document upload or account required. Selections stay in this page and are not submitted to us. Chinese nationality or parentage, dual nationality and non-ordinary documents require consular advice.
Choose your details for a starting point, then follow the official sources below. This is not an eligibility determination.
Some ordinary passports, including France, Germany and British citizens, currently have a 30-day short-visit waiver. The published deadline for these passports is 31 December 2026: do not assume it covers a 2027 trip. The US is not on this unilateral waiver list.
Eligible travellers, including US citizens, may instead explore 240-hour transit permission: the country/region immediately before and after mainland China must differ, tickets and designated ports must qualify, and travel must remain within permitted areas. It is not a general 10-day tourist visa.
Check Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport against the NIA designated-port list for your exact journey. Hunan is a permitted 240-hour transit stay area, but nationality, onward travel and all entry conditions must also qualify. A return trip to the same country or region is not qualifying transit.
If you do not qualify for a waiver, check any existing visa first, then apply for the category matching the real purpose of travel. Tourism is generally L; do not automatically use a tourist visa for a study programme.
Check whether an arrival card is required for your entry category; use the official NIA channel. Keep the permitted stay conditions given at the border. Hotels register accommodation; for a non-hotel stay, you or your host must register with local police within 24 hours.
We can discuss a travel proposal. Visa decisions and applications remain with the authorities. Do not send passport scans through our enquiry links.
